Computer as an electronic device has the capability of storing, retrieving and processing data and that could be so programmed to carry out the instructions it remembers and contains hard ware and soft ware as its integral parts. In brief computer works as an electronic digital device that is used for storing and processing information. It is a personal or public workstation that communicates over the web and at the same time it can perform specific individual tasks assigned by the user when not connected to the internet.

Computers may be portable or desktop and requires power supply and its basic components are motherboard, microprocessors, drive controllers, disk drives, monitor, key board, mouse, CPU, and printers as hardware parts. The software parts include operating system as the platform and other software according to user’s choice.
Computers are used for computing, business, advertising, creative arts, graphical designs, managing organizations and remote control of devices and systems.

Computers can be used in education for creating lesson plans, writing newsletters, updating worksheets, organizing documents, planning, sharing ideas and discussions and downloading educational courses, online education and filling out forms and classroom teaching.

For exchange of information computers are used to float blogs, opinions on bill boards and message boards, discussion forums and emails are used for personal emails and creation of database.

Personal use of computers collecting information, listening to music, sending greetings, creating graphics, publication, chatting, voice mail, email and watching movies and video clippings by surfing the nets, storage of data and creating references.

Virus is a greater threat to computer as it damages the data and system. Anti virus software finds out, neutralizes and immune your computer of viruses.

Computers mostly use digital technologies. Computer Aided Design or CAD Computer aided manufacture or CAM is the designing and manufacturing processes used by most large business organizations.

In networking computer is used to create LAN or Local Area Network and WAN or Wide Area Network. Remote Server is the web server run by computer.
